Significance
MEANING OF THE WORDS OF THE VIRGIN TO THE CACIQUE
"Go to the white man's house and ask them to pour water on your head so you can go to heaven".
"Go to the whites' house...": do not stay where you are, you must move, walk, to where the whites are, because the Spaniards were all baptized Catholics. It was a way of asking the Indians and the Spaniards to seek union, fraternity, reconciliation and acceptance of the other, regardless of the color of the skin, or the conditions of each one. It is a petition to go against discrimination, violence and the culture of death.
With this call, Our Lady of Coromoto is calling us to respect other people, to respect the right to human life from conception to natural death, because we are all worthy and have great value in the eyes of God.
Jesus gave the commandment of love: "Love one another". It is a call to be people of peace, of coexistence, of respect for others, removing from our hearts any trace of selfishness, indifference, resentment and hatred.
With this invitation He was telling them that when people unite as true brothers and sisters, the common good and the harmonious development of a society is possible, in spite of the difficulties and differences that may exist.
"... ask him to pour water on your head ...": ask them to incorporate you into the Catholic Church, which is the only Church that Christ founded (cf. Mt. 16:18) and learn the teachings that Jesus left in the Gospel. The water on the head is Baptism, inviting them to be part of the Divine lineage and of a royalty that is not of this world. An invitation to belong to a tribe much greater than the one you have. It is to begin to live in a divine tribe.
This is a plea for us to go against religious indifference, secularism and confusion of values and principles. It is an invitation to believe in Jesus Christ, to participate in the Catholic Church and to deepen our faith. We can deepen our faith through prayer, participation in the Holy Mass every Sunday, receiving the Sacraments, reading and studying the Bible, attending courses to deepen our faith, to become every time firmer in our faith, to practice it and to live in constant union with God, to be better and joyful in the eyes of God.
"...in order to go to heaven": because all human beings know that at the end of life we go to a place of peace, happiness from where we never leave (we call it heaven) or to a place of torment, fire, misfortune from where we never leave (we call it hell) Even those who believe in many lives at the end there will be a place of happiness or a place of torment. The "Beautiful Lady" was offering him the place of happiness and peace forever. Therefore, Cacique Coromoto did not hesitate to accept the invitation.
This is a plea for us to recognize that death is not the destruction of man. What God creates, he does not "uncreate" again. What is indestructible in each of us is called the soul. Eternal life is not the chemical property of a spirit that, by itself, will last forever. Eternal life is a gift, the gift of salvation. In heaven, the person will be filled with tenderness in the presence of God and his reunited brothers and sisters. Yes, we will see each other again, my brothers, physical death is only a farewell.
The soul has been made immortal in the face of its happiness, a happiness that surpasses it. Paradise is not a dull survival, but an overflowing joy. It is an invitation to keep in mind that we can be united with our loved ones who have gone on to eternal life and that we can be reunited with them by receiving the communion with Jesus. The photos turn yellow, the hair turns white; only faith remains.
Our Lady makes the Indian Coromoto see in very simple words that we have only one life to say yes or no to God. There is no reparation examination, nor a new opportunity. The only opportunity is this life and in you is the freedom to choose.
